Well. I know I don't got a right in the world give anyone any advice on dealing with him. But I can't give you some advice on dealing with me. Anything you tell him not to do. I promise you, he'll try to do it.
Is he? Last I heard he was still occupying a guest room.
You brought it up. [Grumble grumbles. Things are still a little bougie this far north of Hell's kitchen but he stops to take a look at the first establishment that doesn't look like they turn him out on a dress code violation.] Here?
Yes. And matches. I'm out. Wanna smoke? [He's never seen Jean-Paul smoke to his recollection, but nevertheless he offers the man one of three fresh cigars.] They ain't cheap ones.
Should we get a booth? We might need the room if your ego's joining us this evening.
But yer there. Which is... more'n I can say about your take on some other half-baked ideas about mutant nations. So. Whadda you think about it? Any of it.
[Jean-Paul shrugs.] It's not perfect. But they're going about it a lot more intelligently than they have in the past, in terms of sustainability and how to deal wit' the rest of the world. Like it or not, we live in a capitalist world. We were never going to pull this shit off if we didn't have the ability to not only be self sufficient but also have something to offer on a global scale.
I worry a little about kids growing up there. In theory it'll be great for them, but... Maybe I'm just old, Logan, but I worry that they'll either get not realise how dangerous humans can be, OR they'll go the other way and think they're all terrible. I suppose as the island's resident human-lover I could be accused of bias.
[ He nods along with Jean-Paul's take. It's fair skepticism. Some of which he's heard from others. Some of which he hasn't. None of which he's surprised to be hearing from this particular source. ]

Dead. Leave it, Logan.
no subject
You know how he died? [Selective hearing.]
no subject
And we're not talking about it, Logan. If you're so curious, you can read the report we filed.
no subject
Fine. I will.
no subject
Let's just get drunk already, this is stupid.

You brought it up. [Grumble grumbles. Things are still a little bougie this far north of Hell's kitchen but he stops to take a look at the first establishment that doesn't look like they turn him out on a dress code violation.]
Here?
no subject
Here. [Jean-Paul pushes the door open and glides in, head held high, like a swan paddling through a sewer.]
You want whiskey, you unbearably manly man?
no subject
Yes. And matches. I'm out.
Wanna smoke? [He's never seen Jean-Paul smoke to his recollection, but nevertheless he offers the man one of three fresh cigars.] They ain't cheap ones.
no subject
...ouais, I do. be right back.
[He orders the most expensive whiskey they have available, gets matches, and returns with both.] Here.

Not that I don't appreciate yer sense of taste. [Wink]
[He clips a cigar and lights it up. Offering the others to Jean-Paul.]
no subject
[He takes one and leans in for Logan to light it for him, because that's just him.] Merci. So. Why are we starting fights?
no subject
[Logan strikes a match and obliges, but not without a long suffering look, because that's just him.]
Because. You only hang out in comfortable places you get complacent.
Krakoa's beautiful. But it's a bubble.
no subject
Mm, true. It's home, but you can't stay home all the time. Or even leave only for work.
no subject
But yer there. Which is... more'n I can say about your take on some other half-baked ideas about mutant nations. So. Whadda you think about it? Any of it.

You don't trust any of it, I know.
no subject
Hn.
That ain't true.
no subject
Or are you just more mellow because everyone can finally stop pretending that we're not all fucking and we can live on Mutant Love Island?
no subject
Heh.
It don't hurt.
no subject
Mmhmmm, don't think we didn't all notice the placement of your room, you ho.
no subject
You say that like I got to pick. Not that I got a lotta complaints.
no subject
So. Tell me something fun you've done lately.
no subject
Fun? This. This right here is the most fun I've had since we settled there. If you can call it settled.
no subject
[Jean-Paul rolls his eyes.] Chrisse, FINE. No wonder you need to hit someone.
